Service Manager

Join the Kurt J. Lesker Company (KJLC) in enabling technology for a better world. We are a growing global manufacturer and distributor of vacuum technology equipment and thin film deposition systems.  We work with a diversified group of industries such as LED, Optics, Aerospace, R&D, UHV/Synchrotron, Wear and Decorative coatings and Electronics.  We are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking individual to lead our U.S. Service department in our Process Equipment Division (PED).  This position is located in our Global Headquarters in Jefferson Hills, PA.

The Service Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Service department but most importantly making sure we are delivering superior service that will delight our customers.  The ideal candidate will have strong technical and leadership skills along with a customer centric outlook.

Key Job Elements:

  • Enhance departmental policies and processes to ensure quality, timely, and cost effective work output
  • Establish annual department budgets and goals
  • Proactively communicate with other departments and customers to ensure a harmonious work effort
  • Establish and implement best practices for the PED Service department
  • Ensure proper follow-up to verify all issues are resolved timely and the customer is satisfied
  • Utilizing service data and equipment knowledge to ensure the Service department has proper service inventory to provide fast customer response
  • Continuously look for proactive ways to implement and improve the service experience  for our customers
  • Ensure all customer service interactions are documented and communicated to others as appropriate
  • Create metrics and associated reports that evaluate department performance, including: response time, customer satisfaction and trending technical problems (to help guide product improvements)
  • Manage, develop, and adjust staff levels and skill sets to meet business needs



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or physics
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • 4 years supervisory experience
  • Strong technical comprehension skills
  • Strong working knowledge of modern service practices
  • Strong management skills
    Strong communication and organization skills


  • 7-10 years of related work experience
