Question: What is the lowest base pressure a vacuum system made with KF (QF and ISO) or ASA flanges can reach?
KF and ASA flanges are sealed with an o-ring. Given the outgassing rates associated with the majority of o-ring material and out gassing of an unbaked system, the lowest base pressure for KF or ASA flanged systems is 5 x 10E-8 Torr or mbar. This assumes the system has been vacuum cleaned very well, no leaks, has no installed process equipment and has not been baked above ambient temperature.
