Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why are the RF feedthroughs hollow?

Answer:

RF electrical feedthroughs are hollow for two reasons: 1) To allow cooling media to flow though the feedthrough as RF transmission can generate a significant amount of heat. 2) Since voltages with a high frequency only travel on the surface of a conductor, a solid conductor is not necessary.
