Hitachi High-Tech Group to Lead Japanese Distribution of KJLC�s Thin Film Deposition Systems

Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation (TSE: 8036, Hitachi High-Tech) announced that Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. (CEO: Craig Kerkove), a subsidiary of Hitachi High-Tech, will team with Kurt J. Lesker Company ^® (CEO: Kurt J. Lesker IV, “Kurt J. Lesker”) as the exclusive distributor in Japan for Kurt J. Lesker’s PRO Line™ PVD 75™ Thin Film Deposition System and PRO Line™ PVD 200™ Thin Film Deposition System. The systems will be offered to Hitachi High-Tech Group’s customers in Japan.

In the rechargeable battery and flexible device markets, demand has been increasing for products such as smartphones and wearable devices. Therefore, new displays, high-performance films and other such technologies have entered commercialization and the market continues to expand. Manufacturers' Research and Development teams will need a thin film deposition process for development of these types of devices or applications and Kurt J. Lesker’s Thin Film Deposition Systems can support those efforts.

The Society of Vacuum Coaters Foundation's premier mission is to sustain growth in the Vacuum Coating Industry by cultivating and supporting promising young professionals entering our dynamic field. For over 17 years, the Foundation has provided scholarships to students and early career technicians working with theoretical and applied vacuum coating technologies. Since their inception, they have given over 100 scholarships to students and coating technicians from over twenty countries--awards that have totaled over $300,000. The Foundation also grants travel awards to students to attend and present technical papers at the annual SVC Technical Symposium.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Program

Our Corporate Sustainability Program (CSP) is designed to incentivize and reward employees who embody this value by their involvement in community benevolence activities. Since 2017 our employees have been participating in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. For the 2019-20 program eleven students (Littles) meet with their mentors (Bigs) every other Friday at the Kurt J. Lesker Company for an hour. The pairs (matches) engage in a number of activities designed to promote relationship building, goal setting and career exploration. Highlights of the 2018-19 program year included:

Tours of KJLC: Over the course of the program year, matches visited three KJLC sites. Matches started the year by taking a “Fall Festival” tour of Building 2. Littles walked from department to department and received treat bags . Matches also visited our system assembly site and the Glassport facility and learned about different aspects of KJLC.

Reverse Days at Clairton Elementary School: Twice over the program year the activities took place at Clairton Elementary School.

Carnegie Science Center Field Trip: An all-around favorite was the field trip to the Science Center.

Winter Celebration: Matches celebrated the season by decorating cookies and making winter themed pillows. Littles each received a stuffed animal from BBBS.

End of Year Celebration: Matches celebrated the end of the program year with a picnic at a local park! They participated in a kick ball game and enjoyed the different play facilities.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh promotes student success in the following ESSA indicators: career readiness, academic progress, graduation rate, and chronic absenteeism.

Lesker Shines at Semicon West 2019

Our presence at SEMICON West was a great success the week of July 8^th. We had many opportunities to interact with our customers and partners. Our new booth design attracted a lot of attention and drew positive comments. This year KJLC hosted a cocktail party at the Cavalier restaurant in San Francisco on Wednesday night. The party was very well attended and offered a casual atmosphere for meeting old and new business associates alike. Our West Coast team was extremely hospitable and contributed greatly to the success we enjoyed that week. We were able to leverage our exhibition presence to develop relationships further and gain more insight into the global electronics and semiconductor markets.
