Apiezon® AP100 is a hydrocarbon lubricating grease for use within ultra high vacuum (UHV) systems for extremely low vapor pressures. AP100 grease is formed from a blend of low vapor pressure petroleum and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The high levels of lubricity from the Apiezon® AP100 grease is caused from its PTFE component that allows for eight times more lubrication than conventional petroleum-based greases. Apiezon® AP100 offers protection against abrasion and corrosion in high load applications. Apiezon® AP100 is resistant to the “creep” phenomenon that describes the travel of grease away from the area application and into adjacent surfaces where contamination can occur.
Features
- Lubricity 4 Ball Test value of 450 kg
- Stepping motors and gearboxes
- Ultra-high (UHV) vacuum range
- Anti-seize properties
- High load lubricant
- Ambient temperatures
- Silicone free
Removal
Apiezon® AP100 grease has no contamination effect on electrical equipment and is easily removed through use of water, soapy water, hydrocarbon solvents (Limonene, Toluene, Xylene) or chlorinated solvents (Trichloroethylene). When Apiezon® AP100 is removed, it also takes away trace impurities that are not removed by solvents alone.

Vacuum Properties
Apiezon® AP100 grease offers excellent vacuum properties at the ultra high vacuum (UHV) range. As shown below, in the vapor pressure curve, AP100 grease exhibits extremely low vapor pressure characteristics, expressing vapor pressures lower than 10-10 torr at ambient temperatures (20°C).
It is strongly recommend using all fluids and greases at the time of receipt, however when storage is necessary, rotate older stock into use first and observe the recommended parameters listed below.
Apiezon
All Apiezon products have a shelf life of 10 years if unopened in their original container and stored at ambient temperatures. If the product has been opened, resealed and then stored in clean, dry, dark environment under ambient conditions in the original container, it should last up to 10 years, but this is not guaranteed.
