Apiezon® AP101 is a general-purpose hydrocarbon grease used in variety of lubricant applications. The lithium stearate and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) components of the Apiezon® grease makes it insoluble in most solvents. The PTFE gel base in the Apiezon® AP101 grease ensures long-lasting lubrication and smooth operation on almost any surface. Because it is non-silicone based grease allows the Apiezon® grease to reduce sample contamination and interference in analytical techniques like IR and MS. The gel bases from AP101 grease resist aqueous acid and alkali solution attacks, along with alcoholic alkali solution and corrosive gases.
Features
- Based on a heavy-duty lubricating grease
- Moderately high vapor pressure
- Wide temperature range: -40°C.180°C
- Ground/Polished glass joints and metal equipment lubricant
- Anti-seize properties
- Critical lubricant
- Non-silicone based

Removal
Apiezon® AP101 grease has no contamination effect on electrical equipment and is easily removed through use of water, soapy water, hydrocarbon solvents (Limonene, Toluene, Xylene) or chlorinated solvents (Trichloroethylene). When Apiezon® AP101 is removed, it also takes away trace impurities that are not removed by solvents alone.

Vacuum Properties
Apiezon® AP101 offers excellent vacuum properties within the low to medium vacuum range. Shown below, in the vapor pressure curve, Apiezon® AP101 grease shows working conditions all the way down to vapor pressures of 10-6 torr. Throughout its wide temperature range, the optimum consistency is spanned over -15 to over 150°C.
It is strongly recommend using all fluids and greases at the time of receipt, however when storage is necessary, rotate older stock into use first and observe the recommended parameters listed below.
Apiezon
All Apiezon products have a shelf life of 10 years if unopened in their original container and stored at ambient temperatures. If the product has been opened, resealed and then stored in clean, dry, dark environment under ambient conditions in the original container, it should last up to 10 years, but this is not guaranteed.
